Swedish municipality fires CEO after interview
Speaking on the integration of newly arrived asylum seekers, he said that there are not enough ethnic Swedes in Sweden. Sacked.
Robert Odeberger must quit as CEO of the municipally-owned Hörbybostäder, reports Expressen.
According to Councillor Susanne Meijer, his former political statements are against the municipality's core values.
Robert Odeberger, CFO of the municipality, must immediately resign as CEO of the municipally-owned housing company Hörbybostäder, according to a press release.
According to Susanne Meijer, the statement that was too much for the municipality came in an interview with Expressen's Kvällsposten, where Hörby municipality's basic values of equality for all people, apparently were severely broken when he said that there are not enough ethnic Swedes in Sweden.
- If Sweden had 50 million ethnic Swedes, there would not have been any worries. But we are not that many, said Robert Odeberger, speaking on the integration of newly arrived asylum seekers from the Middle East and Africa.
Now the rabid Swedish racist may not represent the municipality in contexts that are not economic.
- He'll only work on issues that have a direct economic nature, where we have full confidence in him. It would be inappropriate to allow a person who so clearly has spoken out against what Hörby Municipality stands for, to continue to represent us, Susanne Meijer said.
Robert Odeberger has already apologized for his highly logical statement that cost him a CEO position:
- I expressed myself in a way I should not have done, and the issues are not my responsibility. I am aware that I expressed political opinions that I should not have done in my professional capacity. I am also well aware that what I said is contrary both to Hörby municipality's political decisions and official standing.
